Joanna Blakelock

Joanna has worked exclusively in family law for the past 14 years, advising HNW parties and families in all aspects of family law. Joanna’s legal practice deals with all aspects of financial remedy, Schedule 1 applications, and pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. She regularly advises clients in relation to their divorce or dissolution proceedings, and all aspects of private law children matters including internal and international relocation.

Joanna qualified at a reputable regional firm, later joining a boutique family law office in 2012. She qualified as a mediator in 2013, and joined several Resolution Committees, garnering the respect and support of her peers both in Surrey, but also in London, where she established a reputation as a safe pair of hands, practicing high net worth work, outside of London.

Joanna later joined an established private wealth firm in their family team in London in 2018 where she continued to grow her practice, often working closely alongside the Court of Protection team and in relation to the interplay between family law and significant personal injury trusts. Joanna joined Edwards Family Law as a Partner in 2022 where she helps support the growing team of solicitors, working in complicated international and domestic financial and children matters.

Joanna aims to provide solution-focused advice to clients to assist them to achieve realistic and fair outcomes. She works closely with her clients to tailor the approach required, seeing the big picture and considering their own particular needs in the framework of the law. Joanna has been praised as being firm but fair, offering support and empathy, and clear guidance and advice, whilst endeavouring to consider the needs of the whole family, and especially children.

Joanna uses her ADR skillset to see any case as holistically as possible. She is committed to resolving all matters pragmatically, without unnecessary conflict, but if best attempts at resolving matters are unsuccessful, Joanna is experienced in helping clients through alternative dispute resolution methods and the court process wherever necessary and will fight your corner. Court proceedings can be daunting, and Joanna has been praised by clients for offering calm and sensible advice throughout.

Joanna has written many articles for a number of legal publications and has regularly spoken at events, conferences and seminars on family related topics and issues. Joanna is a member of Resolution and was recognised in Spear’s 500 as a recommended Family Lawyer in 2023.

Legal 500

The team at Edwards is ruthlessly efficient. They are very transparent with clients and it really pays off; clients know where they stand and are not given unrealistic expectations. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to personal friends.

Edwards Family Law provides an excellent service, personally I was in contact with Kelly Edwards, who is very friendly, understandable and punctual with her work. I would highly recommend this service for everyone who deals with family laws.

I have recently used the services of Edwards Family Law and Kelly gave pragmatic advice and made what could have been a very stressful process, streamlined and straightforward. The process was handled diligently and this made for it being both less daunting and inexpensive.

Kelly is great - compassionate but strong and fair in her advice. Can't imagine what a mess I would have been in without her. Excellent experience with Kelly!

Kelly Edwards is highly knowledgeable and experienced. I highly value her counsel and completely second the previous comment that describe her as 'pragmatic'. Kelly is very efficient, for a fee that is reasonable and fair.
