Charlotte joined Edwards Family Law in November 2020 as an Associate Solicitor.
Charlotte undertook her training contract at a leading City firm (under the supervision of Kelly Edwards) where she gained experience in all areas of family law as well as criminal litigation, civil litigation and conveyancing. Charlotte qualified in September 2019 and her practice has been solely focused on family law since.
Charlotte is committed to her clients and will always do all that she can to assist them to reach a resolution in the most amicable and cost-effective manner. She has been praised by clients for her patience and understanding in difficult circumstances.
Charlotte has a vast array of experience in all of the issues that can arise from relationship breakdown with a particular focus on complex financial matters, often with an international dimension. This has included matters involving the jurisdictions of Ireland, Italy & Denmark to name a few. Charlotte has also assisted with the drafting of pre and post nuptial agreements.
Particular highlights include:
- Representing a wife where the total assets exceeded £105 million, the extent to which a large proportion of these assets were non-matrimonial was a significant issue. The parties were able to reach an agreement without the need for court proceedings to be issued;
- Representing a wife where the husband’s income was in excess of £1 million net per annum and there were significant allegations of non-disclosure against him. The parties reached an agreement and the wife secured a substantial capital and maintenance award;
- Representing the paying party in a variation of maintenance dispute some 10 years after the original proceedings commenced, helping the parties to reach a clean break and bring an end to long running and stressful litigation; and
- Representing a husband with an annual income of £500,000 gross and assisting with settlement negotiations shortly before a final hearing. The parties’ eventual agreement was a substantial move away from the wife’s open position with respect to maintenance, in both quantum and term.
Charlotte studied law at Pembroke College, Oxford. Charlotte is a member of Resolution and Women in Family Law.
Charlotte is extremely impressive and I felt thoroughly supported and safe in her hands.
Charlotte Lanning is an associate who is developing strong expertise in family law, including cases that involve very complex child arrangements and disputes.
